Hello to everyone. I am looking for information on living costs in Baltimore, and you people are probably the best source I have found so far. I hope you can help me.

I am considering attending JHU as a graduate student, but I am not sure the funding package on offer is enough to defray all expenses. If you let out tuition fees and health insurance, which are fully covered, what is the yearly expense of a single student near the Homewood campus?

I really can’t help out that much because I have worked with very few graduate students during my time at Hopkins, and I live just outside of the city. I can say that cost of living in Baltimore is cheaper than other east cost cities like D.C., Philly, and much cheaper than NYC and Boston.

I know there is a helpful Graduate Student web site that you may want to check out:

Thanks for the link. Anyway, I have already gone through all the online material of the Johns Hopkins website, and even found some tables of costs. I was told, however, that those figures are unrealistic and that I might need to take loans. That I would find too risky. I am a foreign student and I would like to avoid running up a debt in the US.
