Living in a "border" town...?

Hello!
I'm applying to Exeter (Whoo!) as a repeat Sophomore, and I'm very excited. However, one thing that does NOT excite me is the fact that my town must make me a day student. However, I live in a separate part of town (The towns weave in and out of each other frequently) and I am right on the border (My street is the last street of my town) of an "option town", which (you guessed it) leaves the option for you to board or be a day student. I really want to board and I don't know how to express this to the admission team. There is a girl on my street who currently goes to Exeter who is a boarder, even though we technically both live in the "you-must-be-a-day-student" town.
How do I approach this so I can apply as a boarder, or is it simply not possible...?
Thanks!

Also, sorry if I sound horrendously high strung… I am very anxious about this! :(

“In cases where an applicant living in a boarding town seeks day student status, we ask families to petition the Admissions Committee in writing.”

I think the OP’s situation is the opposite.

@stargirl3 @ThereAreLlamas‌ Yes, what ThereAreLlamas said! I’m wondering how leniant the school really is with these types of rules. Is it so black and white with the rules, or is there more gray area? Because I know for a fact my mom wouldn’t want to drive half an hour both ways everyday and I wouldn’t want to put her through that.

It can’t hurt to call/send an email!

@stargirl3‌ Good point! Thank you, that’s all very true

Psh, amateur hour over here  **

A similar situation happened with my son. You really need to have a good reason why you have to board. In my case I travel a lot internationally for work, and my wife commutes 95 minutes each way to work. So this would leave drop off/pickup each day difficult.

If you come up with a good rationale on why you need boarding, then have your parents include this in the parent statement. Also bring it up at the parent interview. Good luck

Why not apply to other schools instead of/in addition to Exeter where this wouldn’t be an issue?

See post #2. Probability of admission may be better for day students, thus the necessity of this quote. I would drive my kid 30 minutes each way, or look into carpools, etc. Maybe your Mom is more into it than you realize. Ask her? Can you ask your neighbor to discuss with you the pros and cons, and how she qualified as a boarder?

Think this through very carefully!

Good luck with your application!
