What are the pros and cons of a single residence?

I'm a incoming freshman that got offered a single at hedrick summit. Price is expensiveeee. But I don't really want to reject the offer, because I could have it worse.

anybody here have had any experience living in a single?

Well I live in a single but I am a second year and I would not recommend it to a freshman. They are pretty isolated and very private and I feel like you should take advantage of your first year to get to know a lot of people and the residence halls, although less comfortable, will offer you more social opportunities and may make your first year more fun and memorable. Living in a double or triple is not that bad and it’s a good experience to live with other people. If you hate it, then you have three years to try something else. That’s just my two cents…

have fun talking to the walls.

Accept your housing offer (or you will lose all housing) and then fill out a CAR (change of assignment request). There are many upper classmen who would like a triple but it’s probably not ideal for a freshman. nothing wrong with except you won’t meet as many people…pretty important your first year.

I’m a freshman in a Hedrick Summit single, too.
Maybe we’ll be suitemakes (assuming you’re a girl).
If not, well, there’ll be other kids in the same situation as you.
And I’m sure we can form our own little group. =]

I wonder how many CC freshman got singles in Hedrick Summit…

yeah, i understand it’s known to be lonely but what if you’re a naturally social/friendly person?
i just like the idea of having privacy and the alone time that I’ll be craving sometimes. I’m also considering joining a sorority, but we’ll see!

@ Sophicles that’s so cool! Maybe we’ll see each other, and yes I’m a girl haha so we might just be suite mates. the price is expensive! almost $16k! D: I don’t know how I’m gonna pay.

Awesome =]
I don’t think we find out about room numbers for a while.
But still; I’m sure we’ll be fine, socially.
Economically it’s definitely pricey, though…
Are you going to request a change?

YES! ECONOMICALLY it’s really a problem :[ I guess that means more loans.
I don’t really know if I am gonna request a change, because I’m surprisingly fine with a single. Just the price is the only con for me. I’m worried that if I do request a change, I might end up somewhere even less fit for me.

DOES ANYONE HERE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE LIVING IN A SINGLE? Or in Hedrick Summit, lol

My sister currently has a single there so I’ve seen it and roomed over there for a night.
It’s a really nice room. Not huge, but not cramped, either.
And the walls have bulletin boards, to have up pictures and add more color.
It’s farther from campus (especially the South campus, which sucks, since I’m an engineering major).
It’s at the top of the hill, which means more walking. But, it’s all downhill to the classes, so it shouldn’t be a pain getting to them. And getting back shoudln’t be rushed, so I don’t think that’s a problem.

If you don’t mind walking, I’d say it’s a great place.
More secluded, which is nice in an antisocial kind of way. =P
I think it’ll be really nice.

lol if youre joining a sorority dont even worry.

Great info! Thanks! =)
Do you know if our financial aid increases from what it says on our EPAL since we’re staying in a plaza?

heyyitspam&sophicles- I’m also a firstyear in Hedrick Summit hay hay hay we can all be friends

yah I like the privacy too and I’m pretty social as is. you guys have facebook??

Yes on facebook =P
Sophie Gerrick, if you want to add me.
