I graduated last year, am currently self-employed, and thinking about moving back to Berkeley. I am planning on doing some part-time research and maybe auditing a class. However, I am scared that I will have no social life because I am not a student anymore. I wouldn't know how to go about meeting people outside of classes, campus associations, etc.

If anyone here has experience with living in Berkeley as a non-student it would be great if you could share it :)

Thanks.

Bump. I guess I should’ve waited a couple of weeks before starting this thread, all the chance me threads are taking over :)

Don’t be scared. Get out of your comfort zone. I know a few guys. They live slightly further to save on rent. Should be like living in any other city. Just go out there and be social.

I agree, it should be like living in any other city. The difference is that it’s primarily student-based, but even in a city where it weren’t, how would you go about meeting people then? Just expand your horizons and see where it takes you. Berkeley is a wonderful place to live!
