Living in dorm?

** I went to college in Fall 2010 and lived in the dorms. Started out bad but ended up absolutely loving it! Very social, meeting new people, coed, dining halls, walking distance to classes and gym. After freshman year I dropped out to move home for beauty school. Was half way through beauty school when I had to drop out for surgery.*
** Anyways, I am now considering going back to college this fall for my sophomore year. I would be a junior if I never left, so all my friends there are gonna be juniors. Since I left, I went back to visit old dorm friends often, but noticed they have all made so many other new friends this past year while I was back at home. Andd I have been so bored and lonely since moving back home.*
** So I feel that when I return this fall, it would be a good idea to move into the dorms again to get back into the social part of college and make my own friends, not just friends of friends. Plus I loved it so much. But, not many people stay in dorms after freshman year. I will be 19 and 20 during this next year, living with mostly 18 year old freshman. When I was a freshman there were about 4 upperclassman on my floor of about 40, and we all wondered why they were still there. I feel id have a valid reason but am worried that being one of the only older ones still in the dorm will be super weird and affect me making friends, even though I am very social. Or that it won't be as great this time around and I will regret it. Any thoughts or personal experiences like this? Thanks!

“Older guys”? You’d be a year older than everyone…

Don’t worry about it. My roommate is 21 and she doesn’t have any trouble getting along with the other people on our floor. There are also quite a few 19-20 year olds on my floor as well. It will only be a problem if you make it one. Also, I recommend getting involved in a club/group on campus. This will be a good way to connect with upperclassmen and find friends outside of the dorm.

More schools seem to be making sophs live on campus, not just fresh. Try to get a dorm that is not just fresh. That shouldn’t be a problem since you aren’t one! Maybe you were in a fresh dorm and that’s why it was mostly fresh. The few upperclassmen might not have been able to get a place somewhere else. Check the housing webpage.
