Hey guys! I signed to live On-Grounds with one of my friends on my hall this year. We ended up getting the "Johnson, Weedon, Malone" area, which definitely was NOT our first choice, but that's just how it happened! Anyhow, we have no idea about anything to do with the Hereford area.

So, if you're living in Hereford/Johnson, Weedon, Malone, can you tell us what it's like to live there? Is it nice? If you're not a second year, did you live in another apartment before living there? What are the doubles like? Basically, is it bearable to live there? Or should we try to find some other means of living?

I thought Hereford would be good since I wanted a single, but it did not meet expectations. They have some of the most boring events ever, including a knitting club. Lots of (but not all) residents are rude, disrespectful, and do not follow rules. RAs do not enforce rules consistently. If you want a single, you should go off-grounds.

I don’t live in JMW so I don’t know how people are there but it’s hard to be worse than Hereford.

Every person that I know who lives in Hereford does not like it. It is far from central grounds and the hustle and bustle of UVa. I have been up there many times and while I do agree that it is a cool area (architecture, hilly landscape, running trails), it does not provide the most social atmosphere. Personally, if I were you and your roommate I would try and get on uloop.com to try and buy someone’s housing contract from them in Lambeth. That is where I currently live and I love it. Either that or find somewhere affordable off grounds.

I love UVa, but one of the things that I find lacking is central grounds housing for upperclassmen. However, this is probably do to the fact that most upperclassmen choose to live off-grounds closer to the corner.
