Hey! Columbia’s packing list! Where did you find that?

PS Does anyone know whether we are supposed to use the Microfridge indicated on the columbia housing site for the Freshman dorms? they say no microwaves but then say to use these fridges. I am confused.

replace “Micro” with “Mini” as minifridges 2.5 cubic ft or less are allowed in the dorm rooms but Microwaves are not.

Does anyone know if one needs to bring their own cutlery (plates, cups, spoons, forks)?

Yes, you must bring your own utensils, plates, cups etc…

But since the students will be in a meal plan, won’t they be provided with all plates, spoons, cups etc in the dining hall?

Also, what exactly are microfridges? are they microwave cum fridges or just small fridges?

Microfridges are small fridges. As for the utensils, plates, cups etc. I thought you were referring to the chance you might want to cook yourself something in a dorm lounge kitchen. If you’re only going to eat in the dining halls then, no, none of those things are required.

Abscalc,
If you go on the Columbia housing website they indicate the “Microfridge” company under the refrigerator tab. They give the website and the phone number for the company. Columbia website recommends one rent from them. The apparatus is a minifridge, freezer and microwave all in one. It seems to be what Columbia recommends for rent…
