Living in someone's dorm room

What are the chances I can pull off living in my friend’s dorm room? We both are attending the same university, and I planned on staying at home due to not having enough financial resources. He’s attending college this fall, however I’m not attending until either the upcoming spring semester or next fall. He suggested I move into his dorm room because of my current living standards at home, so it’s not something I asked; he’s encouraging it.

Nobody on this board is going to encourage you to break dorm rules. Don’t do this.

If he has a roommate, that’s very unfair to them. They paid for a double, not an unexpected triple.

Only if your friend has a single room & your stay won’t violate university rules.

It will be discovered and both of you will be kicked out of residence and possibly out of the college.

If this is against the rules and someone reports you, your friend will probably be kicked out of the dorm.

Are you in a relationship with each other ? If so, it is not uncommon but it might violate university rules.

Again, it would be unfair & unreasonable if this was a shared room.

We’re not. I’m also dating someone else atm. It isn’t a shared room; just a shared suite.

Even if it is a shared suite, I think it’s unfair to the other suite mates to have to compete with an extra person for space and time in the common areas (I.e., the bathroom, the television, any storage areas, the fridge, laundry facilities, etc.). Also, suite mates already have to adjust to and deal with the habits and quirks of suite mates whom they have chosen to live with or have been assigned by the school to live there. It’s not fair to throw the habits and quirks of an extra person who has no right to be there into the mix.

yup you’ll easily get reported and kicked out, unless you pay them for the inconvenience somehow. don’t be a freeloader

MODERATOR’S NOTE: Closing thread because we don’t allow threads about violating rules or laws.
