Living Learning Communities

What on earth are they?!

I ask as a student of a Scottish university applying to do an exchange year at North Carolina Chapel Hill... I was wondering if anyone has any experience of them and could tell me whether or not they're worth doing as an exchange student.

Any other comments on exchanges, UNC or anything else welcome!

The idea is that people with the same interest/major live in the same hall so that they can become familiar with each other. It’s supposed to make living in dorms and transitioning to college easier. Some schools have better programs than others. I’m in one and we had one meeting in the fall that no one showed up for and as a result (I’m guessing) there hasn’t been anything this semester. However, there is another LLC for fashion that gets together occasionally and do arts and crafts. My friend at a different school actually has a once-a-week class that counts as one credit that is a requirement to live in the LLC he lives in.

I always thought people came to college for the ‘living’, not for the learning.

All joking aside, I hope some of this is useful: <a href=“Residential Living | Georgetown University”>Residential Living | Georgetown University;
