Where will the Living Learning Communities be located in the fall? I'd like to learn more about them. Good way to transition?

Choosing to live in an LLC is probably one of the best decisions you can make at UAlbany. The actual locations change every year but the LLC itself stays the same. You basically take classes with the same people you live with and go to events and programs with those people. My LLC had 70+ people and I knew every one of them. It’s awesome to be able to show up to a class and already know people in it. Plus when you go to study you don’t have to leave your building to find people in the same class. Live in an LLC, you will not regret it.

My d feels that it will be too separate from typical freshman students. Sounds like that isn’t true?

Also, is it hard to get into these communities? Is there a lot of competition?

No not at all, I have tons of friends outside of the LLC. I guess if you don’t get involved and branch out then that could happen. But I can’t think of a single person in my LLC that doesn’t have friends outside of this building.

It’s not hard to get in, no application or anything, you just indicate on the housing signup that you want to live in an LLC. Not 100% sure but I think it’s a first come first served kind of thing, so do not wait, try and do the housing application the day or a few days after it comes out at the latest. The LLC’s are getting more and more popular so I assume that they’re going to start filling up faster.

Thanks so much for this helpful information. She’s going to Accepted Student Day Sat night/Sunday and I showed her your response. Really hope that she’ll change her mind…
