<p>S#1 is asking to live off campus next year. One consideration is obviously how this will effect his financial aid. What is the collective experience of others with regard to this issue?</p>
<p>Depends on the college and how they calculate the COA on which finaid is based. At my daughters school the COA is the same for on or off campus unless living with parents in which case it goes down. It would actually be a lot cheaper for her to live off campus and she would get the same finaid.</p>
<p>At my sons school the COA for living off campus (without parents) was actually higher. They had really grotty dorms though.</p>
