Living off-campus as a student who has severe anxiety???

I am a current first-year student at UNC, and I am considering living off-campus next year. The reason I am considering this is because I have very bad anxiety and struggle in the dorm situation I am in now, where I share a room with a roommate and am constantly agitated. Living off-campus would allow for me to be able to get a dog, which has helped relieve my anxiety in the past. I would also be able to have my own room and some privacy in case of panic attacks. I am wondering if anyone who has dealt with anxiety or has lived off-campus has any suggestions/pros/cons, because I need to figure this out quickly and it is stressing me out.
By the way, I have generalized anxiety mostly associated with schoolwork, not social anxiety.

I don’t have any suggestions specific to your anxiety, but I do know that there are other on-campus living arrangements that you might like better than your current situation. The suites in Lynch have private rooms. There are also on-campus apartments with private rooms in that same area (I know Belk has some). This won’t allow you to get a dog, but gives you some other on-campus options with more privacy than you have now.

I also know that there are many off-campus apartment complexes that are geared toward students, with private bedrooms/baths and individual leases, that you might also like. Pet policies vary Good luck!
