cable because its a cheap add on to your tv service and most peopel dont have land lines.

It depends on availability and price in your area.

I agree w/ jcas323. Verizon DSL is available at Cornell but you’re locked into a 1 or 2 year contract. There’s also set up fees and early termination fees and stuff. I’d rather choose Earthlink Cable via Time Warner

Well, if your apartment lease runs for a year, what’s the problem with a 1 year contract? Since my roommates and I don’t want cable, we have DSL and it’s been good so far (and cheaper). If you’re getting cable TV, though, Time Warner probably makes more sense.

Most people get Time Warner cable and internet. It’s pretty cheap when split between all your roommates.

time warner usually has a 29.95/mo cable modem offer, if you sign up for a one year contract. However, if you go over that one year, it jumps to like 45 or 50/mo. A way around this, if you don’t change your apartment every year, and you have a roommate, is to just change whose name it is registered under each year.
