I am transferring to UMD next year and had a question about living off campus. How would i pay for it? Lets say i find a place off campus will i have to come up with the rent myself or will my scholarships/financial aid pay for it?

I believe you have to pay for it yourself, either with money you have or with loan money, unless you have leftover scholarship money.

Protip: Take the time to check out the houses in College Park if you can. The student apartments in CP are generally either really crummy (Knox Towers) or incredibly expensive (Varsity, View, Enclave). Houses can be both cheaper than apartments and a better value. I pay $800/mo for my room in a six person house. Utilities included. My room is pretty big, the common areas are pretty big, it never feels too cluttered or crowded unlike the apartments. And the best part is I’m a stone’s throw from one of the campus shuttle routes, so it’s easy to get on campus.

e: I’m hoping you meant UMD as in Maryland and not Univ. of Minnesota - Duluth.

You’d definitely have to come up with the money yourself. Off campus housing, unless its affiliated with the university, is not the concern of the university.
