Living on an Air Force ROTC floor??

I was placed on the Air Force ROTC floor of my dorm and I am an environmental studies major and having nothing to do with the air force. Is this going to be strange? Will I stand out or will there be more students like me?

Other than having to get up at 6:00 AM for reveille and having your room inspected weekly…it will be fairly normal.

are you serious?

Yes, he is serious. At most universities, that’s how ROTC (every branch) works.

Yes and No. Yes…that’s how ROTC works…No you aren’t required to follow their program. You’ll be fine.

You can always ask to be placed elsewhere. You could say you’ve always loved the idea of presenting your country and culture to others, so you were hoping to have an international roommate whom you could introduce to American culture and take back home for the holidays. This kind of positive attitude may help you make a switch to another wing.

Yes, ROTC cadets have to get up around 5 a couple times a week for training, so get ready for that.

It probably will not be a problem.

You probably will not be the only non-ROTC person on the floor, and might not even have a ROTC cadet as a roommate. In fact, ROTC cadets might not even be a majority on your floor. This depends on all sorts of things… the college, the size of the dorm, etc…

You might want to find out who your roommate is and if he/she is ROTC or not. If your roommate is ROTC, when he/she gets up early, it could bother you. Otherwise, this should be no problem.
