I know UNLV is a commuter school, but I was wondering if there is more community among the few students who do live on campus. Anyone have any experiences living on campus or know any students who do?
Unfortunately, I do not know the answer to your question and hope that others will and will post on your thread.
I did, however, go to College Navigator (fed’s website), and by my calculations (13k applied, 83% admitted, 38% enrolled) there were about 4100 incoming first-year students. According to the College Board, 18% of first year students lived on campus, so that would mean there are about 740 first year students living on-campus. Whether a good number of the students continuing living on-campus after their first year, I don’t know. I will say, though, that if students choose to live on-campus at a commuter campus, they are probably trying to have more of a “traditional” college experience. That is, however, an assumption of mine and not a fact.
