I got into UCLA and might go.

Im just curious to know how the living conditions are. I know that there are plazas and res halls? Like what options do I have and how are they all different. What are the pros and cons?

thanks

As a freshman it is more likely that you will be assigned to a Residential Plaza (you have your own bathroom or share one with the room next door) than a Hall or Suite, due to the numbers.

Suites are much smaller, so fewer spaces, and with Hedrick Hall closed next year (and many returning students choosing Halls for their cheaper cost) there are also relatively fewer Hall spaces. So, while it is certainly not the case that you would automatically get a plaza, there’s a good chance.

Seems like most people want plazas though, so if you list Res Hall Triple as your favorite, you’d have a decent shot

Yeah, that’s definitely true as well.

Just don’t expect to get a double and you will enter the housing lottery with a realistic frame of mind.

What are the total #'s for the slots of each type? There’s always a ton of Hall rooms since… they’re packed quite neatly. I don’t think you’ll have too much trouble getting into one. (This throughout Sproul/Rieber/Hedrick closures)

You can score a single if you fill out your preferences just right ;)
