Living Options

All of my grad school options are out of state and too far for me to commute from home.
I was debating dorms or apartments.
Most of the school have grad housing, but it does seem limited.
I was kinda hoping to live alone and not share a house or large apartment, since you can get the mix of undergrad, grad and working.
I did see some studio apartments, kinda small, but with utilities and furniture a single room in a dorm might be cheaper.
What are everyone else's plan for next fall?

Wherever I go, Im staying about 15 mins off campus in a 1 bedroom apt (should be cheaper that way)

I'll be heading to NYU so I think it'll be best for me to live on campus for the first year while I get acclimated with the city. I'm waiting to receive my housing information but I think I'll end up getting a 2 BR apartment-style with a roommate they assign me. I know what you mean though...I would much rather live alone but from what I saw, the housing pricing was ridiculous for 1 person as opposed to 2 people.

I'm actually lucky enough to live with my friend who is going to grad school as well. My parent home is only 15 minutes, but like undergrad--for my sanity I'd rather not stay there..:-)

I'm going to Harvard, but I'll be living in MIT family housing (go figure). :D

on campus - which is guaranteed for incoming grads ... i just want to live within 5-10 minutes walking from my work place -- i don't know how stressful it is going to be but according to what i heard from grad students on my visiting weekend, phew ... i'm bracing for the worst. Plus it'll be really cheap if i cram in with 2-3 other people when compared to off-campus. But i already have training leaving in a really small apartment for 2 years now - i believe i can take a year more in student housing - won't be a significant change in environment ...
