Living Single as a Freshman

I have the potential of living single as a freshman in Couzens Hall.

Pros/Cons?

Couzens is a beautiful and somewhat smaller hall which I like. It's not a HUGE hall like the "quads" and it has a homely look and feel to it. The rooms aren't fantastic but we're talking about dorms here. The obvious advantage is location... Hands down it's a damn good location. As for single/not single, no one can tell you what to choose there. That choice is completely personal preference. Myself, I would never enjoy that... especially my first year but again, it's completely subjective.

So my opinion:
Couzens... Big +
Single... Not so much

Good luck and hopefully I'll see you next year,
Ry

Couzens isn't that great of a location. You still gotta take the bus to get down to central.

I do agree though, Couzens does have a very "homely" feel to it and it is a very nice building in general.

I recommend you get a single. Sure, having a roommate will be fun for a couple weeks, but after that you'll want your space. Then again, if you're like me and you spend most of your time outside of your room, then maybe having a roommate would be ok. Nevertheless, there's no need to depend on a roommate for social interaction. You'll meet plenty of people in your hall and in classes, so I say take the single.

The one thing I love about Couzens is how new it looks, the halls are HUGE, while the rooms... not so much

my friends had a great time there so a single there isn't that bad. It's a bit far from campus though...

For a freshman, living in Couzens probably isn't that great. For your Central Campus classes you either have to take the bus down to CC Little or walk a good bit. If you're engineering/music/arch/etc then you probably only have one or two classes on North Campus your freshman year.

I'll be living in a Couzens single, but I'll be a senior taking almost all my classes on North. I think in my situation, it's a good place to be, but not for someone's first year. Also, single's are several thousand dollars more than a double. If you don't like a double, you can always try to get a single in the same dorm (assuming you still in Couzens) next year.

bump......

Couzens isn't THAT far. With the new pedestrian bridge, I'm sure it's not any farther than Markley, which is where a lot of freshmen live - and probably closer.
