Hi,

I was recently accepted to Rice for ED and these questions are directed at those who already go here. I was wondering how big the rooms are? Like are they all 2 per room or are some bigger? Also, are you given a form to fill out to assign roommates based on similarities in peoples' preferences? I know some colleges have that. Lastly, since I am someone who generally likes to do some partying and drinking, is it likely that my college will have people who also like to go out on weekends, I know not everyone at Rice does.

Thanks

Freshmen are 2 per room (occasionally more, although they get larger rooms). The room is big enough to fit 2 beds, 2 dressers, 2 chests of drawers, 2 desks, 2 chairs. Some of the buildings have suites, where there are 2 bedrooms (2 people each), a living room and a bathroom. Some are just rooms down a hallway with communal bathrooms. There is no way to pick/choose where you end up - you are randomly assigned.

Yes you are given a form. Be honest. This will help them pair you up with compatible roommates. Every now and then, someone tones down their form - this usually ends up badly as a partier gets stuck with a non-partier (or vice versa) and its not an ideal situation in terms of noise, hours, people coming/sleeping over etc. etc.

yes. As the distribution is random, every college has a mix of hardcore partiers, non-partiers and people in between.

Thanks, that’s helpful
