Living with a graduate student?

I'm looking for an apartment for next year, and I'm considering finding a grad student as a roommate. I'll be an undergrad sophomore. I figure the best roommate would be a mature one who's usually busy or not there. I'd consider myself pretty mature for my age.

Any thoughts on this?

It sounds nice and all to room with a grad student, but why would a grad student want to room with YOU?

^Yeah. But if they don’t mind and you don’t mind, there shouldn’t be a problem.

" It sounds nice and all to room with a grad student, but why would a grad student want to room with YOU? "

My thoughts as well. I have some friends that are grad students and I could see rooming with a few of them, others maybe not so much.

Just gonna say that my friends in grad school can easily be just as rowdy as my friends in undergrad.

Although I don’t see a problem with this in theory, I wouldn’t count on the grad student not being around much. They may actually be around more. You know, studying, writing super long papers, the like. Depends on the student.

But again, no problem in theory. Don’t make any assumptions about a person…after all you are asking them to not make any assumptions about you :). And make sure it’s a two-way street, otherwise you’re bound to have a lot of conflicts. If you’re looking for somebody super studious and serious, you should be super studious and serious yourself.
