So I recently ran into a bad situation.
I go to the University of South Carolina and was originally going to live on campus next year. Yet, I forgot to pay my deposit and am now virtually homeless for next year. I’ve been browsing apartments and really want to stay close to campus but can only find apartments that would put me with complete strangers.
Have any of you ever signed a lease without knowing who you’ll be living with? I’m nervous to do so, but it may be my only option.
You can reach out to them first to see if you are compatible, but it is not completely out of the question as it is how most freshman roommates work and some post-college living arrangements
The bigger issues, to me, are: what’s the bedroom and bathroom situation and then, what are the lease terms?
Do you have a chance to get on the housing wait list?
If you have enough privacy, you may not care how well you get along with them.
First, talk to the housing office. See if they can help you.
edit – I see now that your are current student. Check to see if you are required to live on campus next year. If so, the housing office will be even more help.
