I might be living in a Quad in the upcoming year. Quad 2 to be exact. What is it like there?

its like a military bunker with underground hallways! well thats what quad 3 is like. guessing they will be similar

underground hallways like a labyrinth, tiled floors, pretty decently-sized rooms, very nice lounge. i had a friend who lived there last year, and pretty much loved it, which is probably the exception, not the rule, or that’s the impression i’ve gotten. he also repeatedly woke up to his roommate having sex with his girlfriend, and one time, a three-wayyy…(probably too much information but anyway) he was really close with his dorm mates, though, and it seemed very social there.

All the quads are connected by an underground hallway, and there’s a giant lounge with a huge TV. They really spruced up livingston campus this year with a new fountain, walkway, student center, etc. Its gonna be a really nice place to live. The only thing is that Tillet Dining Hall isn’t really that great … but all the other dining halls are a busride away, so its not that big of a deal.

A friend of mine loved it there. I mean, I know people put it down calling it the “Quadjects”, but it doesn’t really matter where you live. It’s really the people that make your dorm-living experience great! Very social group of kids over there, which makes Livingston less dead.

And I really hope they finish with the construction on Livingston before classes start up again, but when I last saw it, they look like they we running on a good schedule, so it should be completed on time =)

I just lived there last school year and overall I felt it was a decent place to live and as with all dorms, there’s pros and cons. Stuff has happened before though like someone once bounced a ball, hit the sprinkler, and the whole floor got their stuff wet. Events happen, but rarely and nothing to really worry about, luckily I had a pretty awesome house, and was fortunate compared to other people, least that was my perception.

Life on Livingston was really convenient, because it’s such a small campus. It’s a quick walk to the student center, library, printing labs, gym, dining hall (which isn’t all that good, except the cereal), pretty much everywhere is within a short distance. While in Livingston though, there was just so much construction going on, and the paths were all icky and muddy, especially the improvised mulch and wood path. Just all this construction, luckily for you, you won’t have to go through that. You’ll have a brand new walkway with a fountain and cozy sitting area, and a kick ass student center by spring '10 I’d imagine. the ENVY!

The Quads used to be military barracks, so don’t expect any luxuries. As people mentioned, there are underground tunnels. Quads are not connected to each other, the houses within a quad are. Quad 2, the lounge seemed darker, and smaller than the Quad 1 lounge, which had a high ceiling and just a nice atmosphere to it. If quad 2 housing is similar to quad 1, it would be 10 people on a floor, 5 rooms, 2 showers, 2 toilets, except for the ground, where it’s 6 people. I believe 1 & 2 are all freshman, except for 3 which has some upperclassmen. Life can be pretty boring there sometimes, simply because there’s not much to do. RA’s do make a good effort in organizing events, but it just doesn’t compare to other campuses. (except Rutgersfest or basketball) If you’re going to make the most out of college life, you definitely need to go outside Livingston. But college life, well life in general, is largely determined by the decisions you make and how you treat it, and your comfort zone. If you don’t like the people around you, you probably wouldn’t enjoy college life. My only complaint would be the lack of enforcement on people who smoke right in front of the house door, which is almost every house I’ve seen. Having to walk through a haze of smoke to get to my room wasn’t pleasant at all.
