Are llc's required now? 1st son is a sophomore and was in engineering llc. Said it was a slight advantage to live with other engineers but he didn't meet kids in other majors. In fact a lot of the engineers didn't live in the engineering LLC and he said that most of the kids in his classes were not in the LLC's. Engineering LLC was in the top floor of Speare last year when he was a freshman (Fall 2010-Spring 2011), which from what I remember had maybe 80 kids max? With 400 or so engineers coming in, it was a small percentage of the engineers.

I heard it was in Stetson East or West this year but not sure.

Second son is strongly considering Northeastern - in fact hoping to do the deposit today, but does not want to live in LLC - so I wanted to find out if anyone knew the latest on the LLC's.

They are for freshmen, to the best of my knowledge. There’s no real way to be sure of where each LLC will be, since they tend to move around a lot each year (because so many are new). If he doesn’t want to live with people from his major, just pick a different LLC. There are plenty that focus on other interests (than what major you’re in). The LLC requirement isn’t the most popular decision Northeastern has made, but I don’t think it should affect whether or not someone decides to go here.

Does anyone know when the LLC decision is made? The application deadline is today, but it does not say (AFAIK) when the dorm decisions are made.

I read that the rooming decisions are made in June. I don’t remember where I saw it or I would give you the link.

Housing is usually late June or early July. It’s pretty late in the summer.
