Hello...I'm a soon to be business admin and pre-law undergraduate. I was wondering what the advantages of having a join JD/MBA degree would be compared to having a JD or MBA alone? Also I can't seem to understand what the purpose in pursuing a LLM would be...is it necessary? Thank you!

If you wish to practice law, you don’t need an MBA. If you wish to be a manager the JD may help a little with understanding the legal aspects of business, but the MBA is much more important. If you wish to major in business as an undergraduate, the value of an MBA to you decreases because there is some overlap between undergraduate business and most MBA programs. With that said, if you are certain you want to get an MBA and pursue business as an undergraduate, you might want to consider majoring in accounting. A CPA/MBA combination is a good one to have.

As to the LLM, it’s a waste of time unless you want to go into teaching law or study some specialized field like banking law, etc.

get your JD or MBA, also remember you dont have to be PRe Law to go to law school

@razorsharp
40% of the MBA grads have done Business administration as undergrads .

And I am betting 90 percent of those 40 percent felt they had already studied a lot of the MBA information as undergraduates. I am not a fan of repeating coursework.
