LMU Animation

Okay, so I applied to LMU Early Decision for Animation. I have a 4.05 weighted GPA, 1230 SAT, and I’m in the top 5% of my class. I was deferred for Regular Decision. I’m pretty sure it’s because I applied for animation but I’m not sure. Does anyone know the acceptance rate for their animation program? Also, could they accept me to the school and not the animation program? If I go to LMU under a different major my freshman year, could I apply for animation my sophomore year? I really want to study animation and I love LMU, so I hope this is a possibility.

I feel the stress, I applied for Film Prod, 1250 SAT, 4.15 GPA… I did EA but I will let you know when I find out if I get in. I will say though, Animation is also very competitive.

We are in the same boat as you. My son applied for Animation; has a 3.35 GPA at a college-prep high school in Minneapolis, and an ACT score of 30. We have heard that Animation is extremely competitive, so are on pins and needles as he awaits the EA decision. Good luck to you kiddos, too!

Gonna stick my nose in here but then back out…

  1. I don’t know how LMU works for admissions to their animation major. All schools have different requirements.
  2. At Ringling (where my D attended), grades didn’t matter nearly as much as the portfolio for admission. Admission was very much based on art talent.

An art school won’t make you an artist. They can only hone talents.
