Hey, so I applied for Early Decision for the animation program, but was deferred. I’m really upset about it, and I have no idea how competitive the animation program is and what to expect. I’m 99% I was deferred because I applied for animation, since my GPA unweighted is a 4.05, and my SAT is a 1230. Any thoughts?

LMU’s film and animation departments are some of their toughest majors to get into. When we were on the campus tour they something like 20% admittance rates. I’m not sure how you get a 4.05 unweighted GPA…on what scale? Not to be mean, but 1230 on the SAT is OK but not great. More than anything though since it’s animation I’m sure they are looking at your projects and your extracurriculars. Look on the bright side you were deferred, not rejected…right?

I got in! Put my major as undecided on the common app but mentioned marketing/advertising because of my love for film making and graphic design. Also interested in environmental science. They accepted me into the school of business though.
Act: 27
GPA: 3.52
Came from a Jesuit school and had lots of extra curricular. 3 years varsity volleyball, 1 year JV. Lots of service with school Andy outside of school. Had a strong common app essay and good reccomendstion letters. I’m so excited!

Hey, congrats!!! Maybe we’ll see each other next year!
