Congratulations! That seems quick.
I was honestly really suprised I was notified with the first batch.
My son applied the 16th and I believe that the deadline really was the 18th for LMU. Most were the 15th.
The deadline was listed as the 15th on the common app, and then it moved shortly before to the 18th.
oh ok, I just looked at the common app to see the date didn’t remember that. Wasn’t trying to correct you I was surprised he was accepted if he applied late!
@bostonliving9696 I know from my visits of all 3 (UCLA, USC, LMU) that people do look down at LMU because of, like previously mentioned, religion & cost. USC & UCLA are still expensive (USC more expensive than both LMU & UCLA, UCLA less expensive than LMU), but they give more money from what I’ve heard. Hopefully, if I do get accepted, I get enough money to go.
I like UCLA & USC because they are closer to downtown LA for internships & networking, which is what I’m really looking for in a school. I like the feeling of LMU better because I get my internships (although I’m not as close downtown & I have to drive a bit) & the classes are more one on one & smaller. I concentrate better in those situations. UCLA & USC are just so busy, if you know what I mean.
I applied to all 3 schools & I like each of them but honestly it will be a hard decision because now it really all comes down to whether or not I get accepted to them & the cost.
@ocmom2 I applied on Oct 14th for EA & got deferred. Sent in 7th semester grades on 1/20 & now I’m just waiting.
haven’t heard back yet! does anyone know if you have to send your semester grades?
Where are you all applying from? I was wondering if maybe they release decisions by region. I live in San Diego.
@mjstewart1224 I’m from the Chicagoland area @sblock it’s optional if you didn’t apply RD
anyone know what “other portfolio” is on mylmu? just popped up on the application supplement and i have no clue what it is. im a film applicant.
My D was accepted. She received an email this evening but the website has not been updated.
She applied Jan 16. I don’t think LMU is “looked down upon” - I think it is a matter of where a student fits. USC is more prestigious but lots of people won’t get in there who want a private school in LA. I know high achieving students who feel lost at UCLA because of the number of people and are transferring to smaller schools. I think there is a lot of hype to go to USC and UCLA but it is also very hard to get into those schools.
Yes. We sent Mid Year Grades on January 15 - before the application was sent.
Accepted! Got the email last night. Health and Human Sciences major so happy
Edit: applied January 10th, supplementary stuff was there by the 15th. International student!
Daughter accepted undeclared. Portal updated this am.
For those of you waiting to hear on financial aid (like I am!!) I received a call this morning from a student rep to talk to me about LMU. She told me that financial aid will be available in about 3 weeks.
@filmandlacrosse it’s the optional portfolio if you want to submit it
@filmandlacrosse I should have submitted a portfolio. I don’t know what I was thinking. My grades are on the low side for film production. I applied with a 25 ACT & a 3.66 weighted GPA (including 7th semester grades).
Admitted yesterday and shocked that I heard so early! My supplement went in on the 17th, I think ;). LMU is on their game.
applied: regular app-around 1/1ish
gpa u/w: 3.63
gpa w: 3.76
SAT: 2150 (700 CR, 800 W, 650 M)
