Just thought I’d start a thread since November 1 has hit and the applicants should get decisions in Dec! D21 really likes what she’s seen virtually of LMU but we are in the Midwest and don’t personally know anyone at the school. It checks a lot of her boxes. I am worried, though, that if Los Angeles County does not allow college kids to be on their campuses that LMU will be all remote again for spring and that would make visiting and sniffing out the vibe pretty difficult.
Anyone applying out there who lives in CA and/or knows the school well?
LMU’s current plan is to be online next semester as well, however they are prepared to welcome students if the county gives the go between now and December. They are letting about 1000 students (possibly) on campus next semester, but that is mostly for seniors and juniors who need classes in person to graduate.
-As EA students if accepted (if they continue to do this promotion given the financial strains of COVID) you get an automatic EA award Financial award so GOOD LUCK YA’LL!
@homerdog I hope it is something they continue too as it helped many people choose LMU with less guilt of payment. Worst comes to worst there is always the virtual tours and student ambassadors (who help explain why they chose LMU and why you should too). Look up vlogs and videos on youtube as well. It may not be the same as in person, but it is better than nothing and it is what we have available unfortunately. At this point it is hard to predict what the governor is going to do especially with protesting/riots/political crowds and the lack of following COVID guidelines in public among individuals. We need to get out of the “first level” of COVID spread in order to be green lit to open campus.
Completely irrelevant thing but I recommend not oppening the decision letter till after finals (if you have them). Focus on finals. If you don’t get the result you wanted with the decision then you won’t be well motivated to finish finals to the best of your ability. Opening an accepted EA when you finish finals and start winter break will be like a gift in itself if you get in! If you get deferred (which I wouldn’t even think of. It does no good to think of the negative “what if I…” situations. Just already assume you will get in and manifest the positive energy) then know that it’s not over until its over and know that you at least did your best during finals and you have winter break to have fun and relax!
Last year they did it in waves. Accepted got the “updated portal” email first, followed by deferals, then denials were last. Accepted EA students also go a congratulations email before denials and some deferrals were sent out, so you may get spoiled on what your decision is earlier than you wanted. Lol. If that makes sense.
That’s interesting. I totally get that it could be a blanket email but it also seems odd to send it to all kids if there are students out there who applied to LMU as a reach. She may have checked some box that showed interest in the program. I’m not sure about that.
Two years ago, my EA daughter received her “status updated” email on 12/17. ED was announced the week before that. This year, they have already announced ED, so I don’t know if there will be a big difference in EA date.
@homerdog I guess our kids applied to the same colleges. My son too is waiting on LMU EA as well as Santa Clara. Think we parents are more nervous then they!
haha for sure. D is out having a picnic with a friend for a break between school and homework. She knows EA decisions coming for her sometime this month but not keeping track. I’m glad. She has enough stress. If I discover a decision waiting before she does, I’ll just let her know to open her portal!
I hear ya! My son he’s very laid back about it all. He’s that way with everything. I worry enough for us both! Good luck to your daughter. I hope she gets in her first choice.
who knows. That’s my best guess based on last year but we won’t know until it actually happens! I think most schools send an email to alert kids to check their portals. Sometimes they send that email a day or so beforehand but sometimes it just comes at the same time they update the portal. So far, we have no official date from LMU.
Based off some Reddit posts I think LMU has already sent ED to some kids at least. What that means for early action I’m not sure but next week seems likely.
College Kickstarter website, which updates EA and ED official dates every morning, has LMU EA as today. I’m not sure where they got that info but all of their other updates have been correct. If that’s true, D could have three EA decisions today!
