I just happened upon this thread and feel for those trying to decide without visiting. We toured 2 years ago when my older daughter was admitted. It is just as beautiful, clean and stunning as the virtual tour shows it to be. Sometimes that’s not the case, but I really believe it is for LMU. It’s easy access to the city and airport, but feels very contained. Our whole family toured and everyone thought it was amazing. My daughter ultimately decided to do the UC TAG program at community college, based on her major, but she still loves what she saw at LMU.
Good point about airport access (LAX). It is very close, like just a 10-12 minute drive, and therefore super easy to get a ride or a cheap Uber. The closest hotels are the airport hotels (with the exception of one hotel that is walking distance).
LMU has posted some housing info for Fall 2021, pending county guidelines, let me know if you would like me to post it here (I don’t know if they are sending it to admitted or accepted students). Applications open 3/16.
From what I can see, the update is not online on their housing application page that says it will be updated with the latest info when available (Oh, LMU. Communications/web site info seems to be your weakness!)
Does anyone know whats happening with the Trustee Scholarship this year? I got the Presidential Scholarship, which is really helpful, but being low income I doubt it would be enough. Also, is the need based aid good?
The Trustee Scholarship is not on their website anymore so I assume it’s not being offered.
when do RA get their scholarship info??
My daughter got accepted to the Honors Program this morning but her scholarship is so low there’s no way we can afford to send her. She’s British so no access to Federal grants. Does anyone know if there’s any way of accessing specific scholarships if you’re an Honors student? Having not had any experience of the scholarship system I’m at a loss where to start and am worried about scams and so on.
She desperately wants to attend LMU.
Have your daughter contact the Financial Aid office at LMU to ask for a list of outside scholarships or check here, there are some scholarship search sites listed. THere is also a link on there about how to Appeal your aid package: Scholarships - Loyola Marymount University
I know that there are departmental scholarships that are available to upperclassmen, of course this doesn’t help you make your decision.
My son was accepted to LMU class of 2025, after a recent visit he really liked the campus and it is in his top 3 . We have the same issue in that he was accepted into the honors program yet the Merit $ is much lower than other schools in the area (USD, Chapman etc.)
yes, I go to LMU or I did- I just graduated this last weekend and I would definitley submit an appeal for your award amount- often times they’ll give you a bit more then and there is no hurt in asking. I never appealed my amount myself because I wasn’t aware that it was possible and some of my friends did and were able to get more as a result.
Her stats pls - gpa, sat etc
Hi, what do you think of the theatre program so far? My daughter is interested in BFA programs but LMU looks really good too!
EA decisions are soon, but not soon enough!
Hi, my daughter graduated from the LMU Theater program. A BA appealed to her and she chose it over her BFA acceptances. It worked out well for her as she was able to explore other interests (screenwriting, directing, and a Women and Gender Studies dual degree). Her interests moved away from performing during school but not because of anything with the Theater Dept. She loved LMU, has several close mentors in the Theater Dept, and now is employed with a dream job in the theater industry.
Portal updated with decision!
Yes pls go yo 2026 portal
