Good EC’s (varsity tennis all years of HS, including captain this year, stage crew manager, lots of volunteer hours, has had a job year round for the last 2 years)
Really excited for her as LMU is up there on her list, but merit scholarship will matter as we don’t qualify for need-based aid and she has good offers from other schools.

has anyone heard about scholarships or financial aid yet?

My D got into SDSU early and is buying sweatshirts today —- so it’s her first choice. She’d possibly go to UCSD if she gets in.

Merit and need based scholarships will be announced in early Feb. This is mentioned at the bottom of the acceptance letter.

Congrats to all admitted and good luck to the deferred. Keep the faith

My kid was deferred EA for Film, Television & Media Studies.
GPA: 4.0 UW/4.6 W
SAT: Couldn’t take

Student body president, varsity/club sports, lots of film EC’s, film festivals, great teacher rec’s. This doesn’t make ANY SENSE?!

Anyone know what to make of this?

That’s painful. I’m sorry that they didn’t get in

That’s surprising with his profile. How much depth of others-focused community service hours did he have on application? That tends to matter more at Jesuit universities than other places. It can be a decisive factor.

This happened at one of my daughters’ safety schools. Over qualified perhaps? Her counselor said the schools try to award EA acceptances to kids they think will accept to keep their yield up.

He did volunteering for voting rights and school stuff, and had a paid job. But mostly EC’s at school through student gov’t. Do you think that community service would matter that much for a Film major? Was even invited to apply for the honors college at LMU so this is really confusing to us.

Mine is similar but the film submitted was the one she made for chapman so I think it’s obvious that she applied there. I think they would have preferred one that wasn’t made to the chapman prompt.

Curios if other/or any kids who got into Film also used the same or very similar video for Chapman?
