LMU Early Action 2013

My letter was also sent today, I don’t have any additional drop down options, is this a bad sign? By the way, I’m from South Florida.

My DD applied EA to SFTV’s Animation program and received her acceptance today in the mail! This is her dream program and I am so thankful she was accepted. We understand that the Animation Program has received a huge increase in applicants in the last two admission cycles. The letter comes with a very nice flash drive in its own “LMU” case, tucked into an 8x11 envelope with a seal on the back that says LMU. Nothing has changed on My Paw prior to this letter today. Good luck to everyone else!

@laplatinum so did you not get any other features in the drop down menu bar? Do you still only have MyPAW and MyAID?

How do you know when your letter was sent out?

@Sabrinamantha, you can call and ask.

So my my lmu home page got the two extra drop downs on last Thursday and then on Sunday my status went to admitted and Monday I got my letter! I hope this helps.

Do the extra drop down features have to appear if you’re being admitted?

Son got his acceptance yesterday in the mail. His MyPAW still has not changed. I wouldn’t worry. Also we live close to LMU and he just got his in yesterdays mail.

@Keepet oh, so did the status and drop down menu options stay the same? And tell him congrats!

Called the admissions office today, my son’s letter goes in the mail today. Anyone venture to guess what that means? He applied to The School of Film and Television. ugh… this is so much tougher than I thought it would be.

@laplatinum Tell her congrats! I’m also waiting to hear back from Animation… Are you in LA? Also, what sorts of things did she submit in her portfolio? I have good scores and a high GPA but now I’m kind of freaking out that I didn’t submit what they wanted art-wise…

@CollegeLearn You’re lucky. I wasn’t even told when my letter would go out. The lady at the office just told me “it hasn’t been mailed yet.” But I’m guessing if your son’s letter was mailed today, that means it should take anywhere from 1-4 days to get the your mailbox depending on where you live. And I totally agree with you! This is so much harder than I thought it would be… I’ve been waiting eagerly for two weeks now…

Yes everything stayed the same so far. We live about 20 miles away from lmu.

I checked MyPaw today and it changed (new drop down options and it says “Ready to tell us if you will be coming to LMU?”), but it still says “Application Under Review.” Does this mean anything? I won’t be at home until January so I can’t check the mail…

Got accepted today!!! I live on the east coast. My myPaw changed on Sunday with the two extra drop down menus but my myPaw still says application currently under review. Congrats to all who have gotten in so far and Good Luck to everyone waiting!

Stacych8, DD’s My Paw had not changed as of yesterday afternoon when her acceptance letter and flash drive arrived. As of today (12/9), however, we note that there are now two, additional drop down choices. It’s a definite, though, as her college counselor confirmed receiving word from LMU, too!

Fantasy Fire, yes we are in the LA region. They said they mailed DD’s letter on 12/17 and it arrived yesterday on 12/19. As for her portfolio, yes, it is really a bit of a shot in the dark. She worked on it principally from spring through early fall 2012 (and definitely worked on it in the summer.) She took AP Studio Art last year, which really helped in her ability to focus on some themes, etc., and ultimately in selecting some of the pieces. She also has worked with a private studio art instructor for 2.5 years, in addition to summer programs in animation and art that she’s attended since grade 9. She read carefully what LMU was asking for in the portfolio and then assembled it. It seemed to her they wanted to see a range of abilities. It consisted of a variety of pieces: completed oil paintings (one stunning self-portrait and some others), ink on illustration board, charcoal studies (skulls, etc.), some model sheets based on characters she’s animated, a storyboard, etc. All together, 15 pieces. She submitted a few less to Dodge (Chapman) and USC. Emerson, to which she was also admitted EA, did not request a portfolio. I hope that helps and that you receive good news soon!

@laplatinum Thanks for the info! Yeah, I tried to send them a bunch of different stuff… I had some digital art, acrylic painting, watercolor painting, markers, pencil, pen and ink, and two short animated films I’ve made. I guess I did something right cuz I just got accepted! Ahhhh! I’m so happy! Haven’t received a letter yet, but I’m admitted on MyPAW! :D

Congratulations! Glad to see it showed up on MyPaw for you. Did you apply to other programs, too?

@laplatinum I’ve applied to USC and UCLA (UCLA doesn’t have an animation major, so I applied to Creative Writing).
