LMU Early Action 2019-2020

It’s a new day! Hopefully I get a decision today. Anyone else still waiting?

i was digging last nighy. ED should rcve scholarship $ info this month and EA mid January. i found the info after D being accepted and allowed to log in to the new portal

Just got accepted for film and television! does anybody know when/where we can find merit scholarship information? (FYI i was EA, not ED)

I got mine yesterday, if that helps at all!

Hey guys, do you all think it’s stupid if I try to call LMU and ask why I wasn’t accepted? Just so I can have some peace of mind? I’m also going to ask about the appeals process but it would be helpful to understand why they decided to reject me.

@zoea4057 i live by the motto if u dont ask u will never know. it never hurts to ask. not sure u will get an answer but asking is fine. i wouldnt push hard tho since u are appealing. use it more as an opportunity to see how u can best complete ur appeal and ur goal to provide all the information they are looking for. good luck!

@StacysMom24 i’m not 100% sure if i will appeal but i’m definitely thinking about it. thank you so much for your input!

The acceptance letter states 18,000 applied FOR 1400 spots. It doesn’t state how many they actually accept, jus t that they have 1400 available spots.

From what I remember last year, there were many Film/ TV/ screen writing students who were deferred. Th3se are very popular majors which I’m sure they could fill the class with ED/EA applicants alone, but they wait until all the applications come in. I suggest writing a letter of continued interest, and anything else to show your interset.
LMU is an amazing school, so if you’re truly interested let them know!

Merit Aid and financial aide news arrives later. I believe the exception is if someone qualifies for a presidential scholarship, they might receive notice at time of acceptance.

@zoea4057, look at the common data set for last year to see how your stats compare to last years acceptances. Based on your other post, your SAT score is a bit low, not horrible but just on the lower end of things. Your GPA is great. You don’t mention your AP test scores, just that you took the classes, so I’m not sure about how that impacts your application.
Ask about how to appeal, more than why you didn’t get in? Appeal shows interest and wilingness to go the extra step. Questioning why you didn’t get in doesn’t feel quite the same, in my opinion.
One thing to keep in mind, there is a fantastic school waiting for you, so try not to get discouraged even though being told “no” really s*cks right now. Good luck to you. You sound like an amazing person.

Still nothing:((((

@ktlady have you checked the portal? My D never received an acceptance email, but the portal has her acceptance. She also received an email tonight from the dean of her college.

In what way does the portal change? Lol I hope I am looking in the right place. All it says is that they have received all of my info

I would consider no news good news, until you hear otherwise. You would see a large shaded yellow area that states “Status Update…” with a link

@ifer67 early decision! But it’s not looking like I’ll be able to go with that little amount of aid

Just got my acceptance tonight ?

Congrats @ktlady ! No news WAS good news <:-P

did anyone else get an invitation to apply for honors by email? how does it work / are there merit scholarships that come along with the program?

@Mimi2018 Thank you so much for your positivity and advice. I truly appreciate it. I’m currently out of town but I will be calling them when I get the chance. I will keep everybody posted!
