LMU|LA 2015 Applicants

and do they send out their acceptances by like rolling admissions or is it by the different schools?

Tealeaves, can the grape be more sour?

So LMU sent out a somewhat impersonal DEFFERED (not rejected) letter you have to bring that up several times? I guess the only thing LMU can do right is to accept your daughter’s app blindfoldedly.

How has LMU turned off applicants?

You know, you are right, 83. Best of luck to everyone.

I got accepted back in Feb. with honors at entrance, but since then I have submitted my theatre audition tape. Does anyone know when/ how we will be notified of a decision from the theatre department?

Stats:
GPA: 3.98/ 4.21
ACT: 31
SAT: 2090
IB diploma candidate
EC’s: VP thespian society, Treasurer Tri-M, member other clubs and community service/ internships

My daughter got her acceptance letter on Friday to animation.
Weighted GPA 4.5
ACT 29
She took 1 AP class last year, and is currently taking 5.

@tealeaves my D applied RD in Jan and received her rejection letter yesterday. She has received several acceptances letters and since it was a reach for her she had moved on and has already pretty much made up her mind where she is going. Maybe it was sour grapes on my part, but I did not like the tone of the letter either and my H felt the same way. I just felt they took a rejection letter that could have been nice and made it a bit meaner than necessary. The funny thing is my D took it in stride and was not bothered one bit.

yenmor and robfixit,
where are you located? west coast? we are in nj and have not heard yet.
also, was your application status changed online or you just heard through regular mail?
thanks a lot. my S is still waiting.

My daughter applied to film production at Chapman and at LMU. She was wait listed by Chapman and has not heard yet from LMU (ED app, deferred). She is a 4.38 weighted/3.85 unweighted GPA, AP English, French (5), US and Euro History, Econ and Stats. Honors everything else. VP of French Honor Society, all usual honors clubs and associations; fluent in French. Attended UCLA advanced film production 2 week course with an A. 4 on the AP Euro test, scheduled to take 5 AP tests this spring. 2 years of Film Production experience in high school. She did not get into UCLA. She loves LMU, still hoping to get in! She is very anxious, LMU portal still shows under review. Seems like so many have been accepted, not sure if this is a bad sign.

^

I would like to know the same thing.

Loyola’s website says by April 1st but it seems like several of you have been notified already.

Is it done by your intended major?

I am wondering the same thing! I still haven’t heard yet so I’m not sure if that is a bad sign? I applied as a communications major, did any of you apply as a communications major? The only people who have heard from my school were film majors. Good luck to all of you!

any biology majors?

Hahah, sorry no. I’m just a boring old film/productions major. :)

@singer22

Can you tell me when your film buddies heard from LMU? Was it online or in the mail?

Hey guys,
today a friend told me something and I was wondering if it had any truth to it. She said that “the kids who hear back last (just a couple days before April 1st, or on April 1st) are probably wait listed or denied”.

I still haven’t heard back yet, so I’m hoping this is totally false. It seems like it wouldn’t be true though, because I’m sure they let in a couple kids at the end. Anyone have any information on this?

^ Where did your friend get her information from?

Meanderer,
She said her private college counselor told her, but there are a lot of wacko counselors out here in this area that tell kids crazy things, which is why I’m skeptical.

Hi Stemar,

I have no idea whether it’s true or false but I would be skeptical too. After all, LMU must receive soooo many applications. They can’t process all the ones they want FIRST and then process the rejected applicants second. I would assume that once a decision is made, a decision is sent, regardless whether or not the applicant got in. I don’t think it’s done in any particular order.

Try not to worry…I wish you the best of luck :)

I have two friends that were accepted for film. One of them heard back about 2 months ago and the other one found out about 3 weeks to a month ago. And as far as all the denied people being told last I don’t think that is true (at least I hope not!). I think it depends mostly on when you applied and what your major is.

Also, I called the admissions office and they said my application was in the “review process” and that a decision has not yet been made. So I don’t think they like keep all the people who weren’t accepted and send them a letter towards the end. Wishing everyone the best of luck! I hope we all get in!!

I personally know people who have been accepted and rejected so I think that the decisions are coming out completely random.

I haven’t heard back and i applied early action and was deferred. I’m getting really anxious too. I live about 15 minutes from the school so I’m guessing that it wouldn’t take long to get to me. Today’s Monday and my mailbox was empty =/

Also, a called them last week and the guy I was talking to said that the status on the my.lmu.edu page changes 3 days after the letters are sent.
