LMU life

Can someone tell me about weekends at LMU? I heard there are a lot of commuters. Also is there a lot to do on the weekends like parties and stuff?

There’s about 5,000+ Undergrads about 3,000 and some odd numbers live in on-campus dorms and on-campus apartments. The rest usually live in off campus housing with a few commuting from home.

But I’d also like to know about life on campus during the week and weekends.

Are there malls and restaurants nearby (within walking distance)?

Does anyone know if LMU has an acappella group? We can’t find anything on the web site. Any info or a link would be appreciated. TIA.

ETA–yes, it does. Leave it to good old Facebook. The group is called Notetorious and I think it is relatively new.

Wow so many questions! I just finished my freshman year so let’s see if I can help out :]

CollegeJC and CrazyKid101: Yes there are a lot of commuters but the campus doesn’t necessarily die on weekends. Everything on-campus has shorter hours to accommodate the lesser numbers but it’s manageable. It’s over breaks that everything shuts down apparently - Spring Break, Thanksgiving Break, even our one 3-day weekend it seemed like everyone left!
People on-campus definitely party on the weekends. Rosecrans would be your best bet to find a party but be careful! It isn’t rare for Public Safety to get called over and even the EMTs every once in a while.

Ilovethebeach: Well…there are some nice places within walking distance. Ralph’s is close by, and just up Lincoln there’s a crepe and bubble tea place that’s very popular (KC’s Crepes). I also know of a little Thai restaurant right down the road from KC’s. Everything else would definitely be a bus-ride or more. But there is the Lion Express, which is a free shuttle service that goes to places like Howard Hughes Center, LAX and Target I think. They didn’t come pick me up from Howard Hughes Center for some reason, so be careful with them. I’ve had to walk back from Howard Hughes and the Third Street Promenade at Santa Monica, both took over 2.5 hours to walk!

Thanks a lot for the info! :)

Holy cow! Thats a freaking trek!

Btw, Whats you major?

Thank You Axel_Valentine!
