I am trying to decide where I will attend next year and lmu is one of my top choices, but from what I have read the social life there, especially on the weekends, is really lacking on campus. Is this true? If it is true what do students do outside of class and studying? What do students do on the weekend on or off campus?

I heard that it was sort of a party school. I also heard that many students go back home on the weekends.

Yeah I’m concerned too, my parents keep telling me that, but I don’t listen

My son is a sophmore there, and I have not heard that most kids go home on weekends. He certainly doesn’t, since we live at least 6 hours a way. He seems to have many friends there that are not from So Cal.

@Shrinkrap Does he enjoy going to LMU? What does he do during the week and weekends other than classes and studying?

I live in nor cal and will not go home on weekends as it is a 6+ hour drive for me as well.

He seems to enjoy it sometimes more than others. He complains but would not consider transferring. He does not like his current dorm (can’t remember which one it is. We did not visit him at all this year, and only once after move in last year), and hates the wireless there.

To hear him tell it, study, study and study some more. He does not appear to drink. He is sometimes a designated driver. He plays intramural sports (basketball, soccer, tennis). He is apparently at the gym working out every day, and says it is very crowded there in the afternoon and evening. At times he plays video games, but much less than in the past. Last year he was in the hip hop club and worked at the television station. He no longer has facebook (that I know of), but I used to see him at places all over LA. Beach, autoshow, restaurants.
