Lmu transfer 2019-2020

I thought I’d start the thread now since Common App has opened for the 2019 fall transfers.

Hi! I am applying for Fall 2019, My major is political science. Its kind of a reach since my GPA tanked due to some personal issues going on during my summer classes but I am still above a 3.0 and hope that my Fall classes bump my GPA up.

Hey guys! I’m a double major in computer science and Theatre arts. I’ll post my stats later. Mine is honestly a reach too because my GPA got pretty low after a really rough semester mentally. If I get solid grades, it would be like a 3.5. I’m working on getting it up this semester. Applying for Fall 2019 RD!!

Hey!
I’m applying for RD fall 2019. I’m 19, raised in LA and currently go to SMC. My GPA is whatever but I have a lottt of professional work experience for my age.

Write for a big online music publication and go to events on their behalf and interview artists, intern at KCRW (89.9 radio) once a week, work remotely as an executive assistant for a boutique music marketing agency with some great clients 10 hours a week, work 15 hrs paid at a marketing internship at an established startup (20+) full-time employees and am taking 4 classes(3 in person one online) and have previous internship experiences on top of this.

Applying for the entrepreneurship major but my GPA is around a 3.1(not the best). Had a lot of death in my life in the past few years after HS, was very depressed for a while but through therapy picked my life back up and am doing really well. Will have some good recommendations and hopefully, admissions will appreciate my upward grade trend and work experience this semester.

I’m an international student and I recently submitted my application for the fall transfer regular decision (film production major) this year, and I’m a little nervous about my application. I started developing an interest in film towards the end of high school and I’ve just completed my first year of college, so I haven’t had much to add to my portfolio although I know it’s optional. Could someone maybe estimate my chances of getting admitted? Here is my basic information:

CGPA: 3.8 on a 4.0 scale, unweighted

IELTS: 8.5 on a maximum band of 9.0

Achievements and Extracurricular Activities:

  • Academic Honors (Magna Cum Laude on the Dean’s List)
  • Did Model UN for almost 4 years, was part of two organizing secretariats as Under Secretary General of Photography and Co-chair for one
  • Organized University Life Course group field trip
  • Volunteer photographer at 24 Hour Race where participants raise money to stop human trafficking through donations from NGOs

Work Experience:

  • Did a temporary unpaid internship at a job-hunting company

Submitted two academic letters of recommendation from lecturers

Chose #2 for the Common App essay

As for my portfolio, I chose to submit four photography samples (the maximum number allowed), a one-page professional resume, and a one-minute video which isn’t exactly a film but more of a B-roll of sorts of footage from Pier 60 in Sarasota, Florida (maximum duration is 3 minutes). I was thinking of adding a screenplay I wrote but I’m not sure if that counts as a form of writing composition.

Hopefully that would be enough for someone to determine how strong my application is

@CISD145 Your stats are very strong, which is good. However, since you applied as a film production major, your portfolio is a large component of your application. You may be offered your second choice major if you don’t get in initially as a film production major.

@freethepuffles Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if I should either make another film altogether or submit an additional creative format like a written composition (do screenplays or personal statements count?). I applied for film and media studies as my second choice so I hope that I might be able to defer to the film production program later on, if that’s possible.

Ahhh I wanna hear back so bad!! Any updates anyone?
