LoA and Nom

I received a LoA in July and I completed my application within the LoA deadline. I also heard about two weeks ago that I had received a nomination from my congressman. I am medically and physically qualified as well. My question is how long does it usually take after all that for the Admissions Office to process it and send out an appointment. Do they wait until January for all congressional nominations to be submitted? I'm curious and very anxious, I can't wait to hear from them. Thanks.

Typically LOAs with noms will begin seeing appointments shortly after the SA receives the actual notification of the nomination from the MOC, maybe a few weeks. However, this is a very busy time for them and we are also right smack in the holiday season. Admissions staff have lots to do and will likely be taking some time off for the holiday as well. While it would be very nice to hear by Christmas, and it could happen, I would probably avoid stalking the mailman until the new year and if it comes beforehand, call it a blessing.

USMA_HOPEFUL, As a candidate who is in your exact position(LOA in July, received nom recently) I think that apointment notifications should becoming between now and end of January. That is not a specific answer, but as soon as they process the noms, you should hear. Don’t worry, your already in. Just need to make it official. See you there!!!

Thats about the timeline that my daughter had —the nomination was in early December and she had the appt in hand by Xmas. Congrats!

I’m sorry to interrupt but what’s a LoA?

chrissmith332, on your candidate portal does it say you have a nomination on file? I was wondering because mine still says no nominations on file, they haven’t updated it yet.

fartman38, LoA= Letter of Assurance meaning if you get one and you are physically, and medically qualified, and you also receive a nomination you receive an appointment.

USMA_hopeful, My candidate portal page does say that I have a nomination on file. I actually saw it there before I was contacted by my congressman.

With regards to receiving and actual appointment, I have some very reliable information saying that we will be hearing before Christmas.

That is strange my portal doesn’t say anything about me and having a nomination but I know I received one. That would be great If we heard by Christmas, who is your reliable source?

USMA_hopeful, I just got my letter today!!! Should I describe it or should I save the surprise?

My source: My guidance counselor spoke with admissions and was able to confirm that I would be having a very merry Christmas.

Hopefully you will receieve it before christmas too. Is West Point your first choice? Where else are you applying? Any Ivies?

USMA_hopeful, How did you hear about your nomination again?

I received a letter from my congressman the monday before Thanksgiving saying he is nominating me. Congratulations on your letter! Yes, West Point is my 1st choice. I also applied to the Naval Academy and since I live in CO some local colleges like University of Denver, Colorado School of Mines, and the Air Force Academy. Oh and I also applied to Fordham University in NY. What about you?

Aside from West Point, I have also been accepted to Notre Dame and Villanova. I am still applying to Navy, Princeton, Vanderbilt, and Dartmouth. West Point is my top choice so things are looking good!

Did you go to SLS? I met someone at SLS from Colorado Springs.

Yea I went to SLS but I’m not from Colorado Springs. Did you go week 1 or 2?

week 1, how about you? If week 1, what company and squad?

I was week 1 too 3/6
