loa without cfa?

Can you get an LOA without having completed the CFA? I have a stress fracture right now so really can't do the CFA. What exactly do you need to have in to get an LOA? Thanks!

A Letter Of Assurance (LOA) is simply a conditional offer of appointment, contingent upon completion of or satisfaction of one or more conditions.

You could receive a LOA contingent upon:

[ul]obtaining a nomination,

[li]successfully completing the CFA,
[/li]

[li]being medically qualified by DODMERB,
[/li]

[li]completing your high school year with high grades,
[/li]

[li]obtaining citizenship by R-Day,
[/li]

[li]any other condition stated by USMA admissions.[/li][/ul]

LOA’s are most commonly given by USMA for your high class ranking, high SATs, and other scholastic achievement, contingent upon finishing the rest of the application process (CFA, DODMERB, and nomination).

The goal is “appointment” not LOA. You can get a LOA anytime after submitting your application, but you WILL NOT receive an appointment until you are Triple Qualified and have a valid nomination.

Thank you!

LOAs can be awarded after a candidate has filled out the Candidate Questionnaire, and submitted a 6th semester transcript (which includes class rank) and SAT/ACT scores. The application does not need to be complete. As Luigi said - all LOAs are conditional on the Candidate successfully completing the application - usually within a stipulated time period.
