Loa!

Son’s congressman called to congratulate him on receiving an LOA from AFA. Haven’t actually got the letter yet - but “it’s in the mail”. What a day! Thanks to everyone (especially Doc France) for the advice and support. Good luck to each of you. I need to go breathe into a paper bag for awhile.

Would you mind telling me hwo competative your son was, score was/transcript, i'm trying to get a handle on how good you have to be to get an early LOA-- Thanks a lot

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
I'm super pumped for your son on his great accomplishment!
I'm almost equally excited that they have finally started sending them out.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Point of information--- I heard a rumor that our ALO's might know before we do. However, I just got off the phone with my ALO and he told me that I will know before he does, and also to get used to the uncomfortable process of "waiting." He said I am a candidate but I could still not know until March. I know we all want an LOA (btw congradulations) but my seasoned ALO said it might take some time. I think everyone who gets one should just post it though for all of us eager canidates.

I also talked to my freind who recieved an LOA from Westpoint and who shares my congressman-- he told me he never got a phone call from our congressman. I wish my reprasentatives were as curtious as the above ones! o well.

My son has asked me not to post his stats as he thinks it's more than just SAT, GPA, etc. It's indeed the "whole person". All of the activities, challenges and focused hard work. It's that gleam in your eye when you talk about the Academy and what it means to you. It's knowing you want to wear that red hat come June. Geez, somebody stop me.

WHEEEEEEE! Finally! This provides a bit of hope to this site! How awesome that the news comes on this great day! Just any old regular day. Until now. Notthemomma! Keep breathing in the paper bag! Can't have you falling out at this crucial moment! So so so excited for your son & your whole family. Many congrats! Take care of him.

Im sure you have but congradulate your son for all of us. Its great that the first few are starting to go out now.

Has your son already received a nomination from your congressman?

EDIT:
dont forget to bubble wrap you son!

Nope. Not gonna stop you! You keep on keeping on. I know this feeling. Its similar to being strapped to a major fire work and blasting off. You won't sleep well tonight. Too much to think about now. :) ENJOY THE RIDE!!

From what I understand (son tends to babble when excited) - if he doesn't get a senatorial then the congressman will nominate. So it sounds good (for gibberish). The Chipotle is on me when you all get to COS.

Whoa! Send my congratulations to your son. I am jealous! Hope to be joining him in the class of 2010. Congratulations again...I'm sure it's an amazing day for him.

It's docfranc by the way ;)

Great to hear the USAFA admissions board is rolling.

One question, do you know if his admissions web page changed at all with this new development? I check mine religiously, but I'm not really sure why.

Great question...

Wait a minute - I call shenanigans. It's surely docfrance. Red hats for all my friends!

we wait with bated breath!

Great news. Congrats to your son.

Great news to hear AFA is finally going! w00t!

nice job. congratualtions. wow!!!

he must be so excited... i can only imagine!!

Congratulations to your son! It must be so relieving to know that the waiting game is finally over...and you've won it! I've still got a few more weeks left, apparently (even though college students files are supposed to go before the board without transcripts).

any word on whether your "admissions status" changed with an LOA?-- according to the USAFA website that is

Thanks to everyone for the congrats. I'm not sure the waiting game will be over until you're all passed off to the AFA the end of June. I'd like to have him sit out the upcoming rugby season - yeah right.

I don't think the status has changed on the AFA website. Hopefully, the LOA will be in the mailbox today. Not that I don't trust his congressman - my jaundiced eye likes to see things in writing.

Thanks for checking his status, it would be nice if the Academy would change the applicants status at http://www.usafa.af.mil/ once they "recieved" an LOA. Once again congradulations and thanks for keeping the "forum freinds" posted.
