Loa

Hey guess what! My twin brother and I are heading to West Point Next YEAR! We both got our LOA!! YAY!!!

Where in NC? Your scores look fine, more importantly what does your package look like. SAT, EC, RECS, TRANSCRIPTS

Don't sweat not getting an LOA. The vast majority of those accepted do not receive one. You are still in the hunt!

Congratulations Peteyflow!

peteyflow,

Congrats to you and your twin brother!! I'm especially partial to great twins. :) :)

I have a question regarding CFA.
My scores:
push-ups: 65
bb throw: 50
sit-ups: 85
shuttle run: 8.4 (not sure)
1 mile run: 5:40
pull-ups: 1
Do I have any chance to pass CFA?

Pull-ups are a problem, which I am sure you know. BB throw is too. If the SA thinks you are competitive and failed you on the CFA they will ask for a new CFA. Go out to the gym and work on those 2 areas while you wait to here so you can take it over again. No one knows for sure how they calc, you will get hi pts for mile, and sit-ups so that might push you over the edge

wodan:

you dont' say if you are a male or female - makes a difference.

bulletandpima is correct though - if West Point finds you competitive they will give you another chance to do your CFA -

At WP, the option to take the CFA for a second time once the results are submitted to admisssions is the exception, not the rule.

I think that is true for every SA. Don't ank on it. What I meant to say is, if they really want you and have a nom., they can offer for you to re-take.

AGAIN, it is an exception, but if you scores high in every other area they MIGHT ask.

I would suggest informing your MALO about your scores on the practice session to find out what he/she thinks. In the meantime work on the problem areas and retake the test. Do not submit until your MALO lets you know that it would be a passing test.

Good luck.

Hello,

I got into applying for WP a bit late. I decided that I wanted to really go there like in the last week of October (after having thought of applying since junior year). I filled out the Candidate Questionnaire and got an application from West Point.

I also signed up for candidate nominations for my senator and local representative. I also have gotten my teacher evaluations in. (I still need to get everything else in.)

The only problem is I am currently not a US citizen. My parents applied for in January of this year, and we have opened up a casework with our local representative to see if we can make the process faster.

Will not having my citizenship currently disqualify me for an LOA?

Btw is the LOA supposed to come after I turn in my candidate questionnaire?
Thanks so much!

LOA=Letter of Assurance. Everyone does not get this, so don't fret. Most don't get this. It is basically a conditional acceptance. It states that you're what they are looking for and if you meet all the criteria, you will be offered an appointment.
As far as getting a late start: My son began the entire process in mid/late September, and the appointment came last Friday.

The basic requirements are:

Each candidate must: be 17 but not yet 23 years of age by July 1 of year admitted. (The increase in maximum age is a result of a recent change to Title X, U.S. Code.)

be a U.S. citizen at time of enrollment (exception: foreign students nominated by agreement between U.S. and another country).

be unmarried.

not be pregnant or have a legal obligation to support a child or children

Therefore you will need to be a U.S. citizen by R-Day. Best of luck to you!

Actually, I think not being a U.S. citizen may disqualify you from recieving a LOA or appointment from West Point. I am not a citizen yet either, but dad has his interview and test scheduled for next month! My regional officer said that West Point won't offer me anything until I am a citizen, even though I tried explaining the rule about being a citizen on the 1st day. However, I did receive LOAs from Air Force and Navy.

i accepted my appointment a month ago... when should i expect to hear from west point?

got my appointment yesterday!

Hershey. Congrats. Daughter received LOA in Oct. and her Congressional Nomination on December 4. Any idea as to how long to get official Appointment from USAFA?

hersheybear,

Congratulations to you! Will you be accepting the appointment?

T39,

It's a great sign that appointments are going out. If the nomination has been reported to West Point already, it should be soon. My daughter was in the same boat. Unfortunately Admissions closes for 2 weeks during break. So if she doesn't receive an appointment before then, it will likely be early January. The waiting is a killer.

momoftwins - i'm still waiting to hear from navy (my first choice).
T39 - did you daughter get the LOA to USAFA? i got my appointment the day i got my nomination (with an LOA) but i have a friend who's applying to USAFA and she has an LOA, a presidential nomination and still no appointment.
