Loading extra classes at Community Colleges

In my H.S. tons of students take extra classes at the local community college. What are the benefits It seems like most of them take 4-5 classes there, so they have another resume of college classes. Is this normal for students to be taking all these CC classes?

I never had the time to take extra classes because I had a lot of activites.

Does anyone know?

A lot of kids at my school take CC classes to boost their GPA. Each CC class counts as a weighted class, and since the classes are easier at the CC (at least for my school) than the AP classes, it's easier to get over a 4.0 that way.

so true. Its so annoying how kids can boost their GPA in easy CC classes when I'm working my but off in the APs...totally not fair.

I wouldn't take so many CC courses. You might as well attend the CC then.

how much would it benefit the applicant though? I'm worried that I'm falling behind.

I would not worry. Some colleges only take classes that do not count towards HS graduation, and some private schools do not take CC credit or don't know how to "classify" such a student.
