<p>So with private loans you can never change the terms of the loan from variable to fixed rate , just ask for extensions to the the life of the loan?</p>

<p>I thought the rate was moving up from 3-4 to 5-6. The federal loans I got for the 06-07 year are 5.something and 6.8.</p>
