I am $7,500 short of what I need inorder to pay for my 1st year at Bennett College for Women with my federal Pell grant, Unsub Loan, and Stafford loan. So I applied for a private loan inorder to pay for the remaining, but was turned down because I have no credit history from all the major banks.

So my question is-

Where can I go to get a loan for my education without a cosigner?
I do not have anyone who is able or can qualify as cosign including my parents.

Three thoughts:

1) Try the actual college itself, sometimes they have private loans available.

2) What will your total loans be upon graduation if you continue all four years at Bennett? It sounds like this college is rather expensive for your situation.

3) Do you have a back-up college path/plan? (ie: 2 years community college followed by transfer) if funds don’t come through?

Sorry to be such a downer, but loans are harder to get these days and private and public college is near unaffordable for many these days. Alternative plans abound.

Best of luck,

22,000 a year with no out-of -state fees, its a private college.
The price is good coming from Texas where UT is 30,000+ and I’m a TX native.

Yes, my plans are to finish with a degree from Bennett and hopefully next year I can join a work-study program to offset the fees.

Thanks for the help and advice!
