<p>kelsmom, My D got a Stafford loan (not at UC). Is the paperwork for that handled once the student arrives on-campus in the fall? Or does the college send something to us in the next month or two, or are we supposed to contact them?</p>
<p>You don’t have to rush, but you will want to make sure you get the paperwork in well before the bills are run … that way, if your school deducts the loan amount from your bill, it will be reflected. If they just tell you to deduct it from the amount you owe, you will want to make sure you have submitted the paperwork in time for processing so that it will all go smoothly. If you are getting a refund & hope to use it for books, you’ll want the funds to be ready. In other words, no hurry right now … but don’t let it go until August, either.</p>
<p>Thanks kelsmom. I did some digging around the school’s website, and did find that we’ll get paperwork in July, so that makes sense in view of your info.</p>
