Loans for Summer Classes and Other Educational Endeavors

Hello all -

I am currently in a position where I am looking to take 1 or 2 summer classes online through a local community college in order to get ahead in my current undergraduate nursing major. Along with the online classes, I am hoping to participate in an LNA program in order to work as an LNA next semester. While both options would be great for my career and education, they are proving to be quite pricey for my current budget. I’m at a point where I either need to compromise and accept that I can only afford one without aid, or figure out a way to get loans/financial aid in time for the courses. Of course, my number one goal is to be able to partake in all of above mentioned classes. I am honestly very unfamiliar with how loans and this type of thing work, which is where my questions come into play,:

-Already having used the loans I was given through FAFSA for the Fall and Spring semester of school this year (direct subsidized & subsidized), is there a way to get a loan or grant through the FSA for this type of need? If so, what should I be looking for?

-If not, is there a route to look into with other types of loans? I was thinking there must be some type of student loan through banks that would be helpful, but I just don’t know 100% what is the best option.

-Has anyone been through this before and can recommend the best way to go about it?

Thank you for your time, thoughts and help.

If you have used up your federal student loan limit this year, you would need private loans that require co-signers. Or your parents would need to take on parent loans.

Have you verified that the summer classes would transfer to your university and apply to your major? Do that before you go any further.

Does a local nursing home offer a CNA class? Can you work this summer to earn some money?
