I am currently a first semester transfer student at CSULB. At the beginning of the semester I rejected an offer for a direct subsidized loan. Fast forward to the last 5 weeks of the semester, and I am having a very hard time getting by financially as i am out of work and having a hard time finding employment that works with my school schedule. I was wondering if it is possible to call the financial aid office and accept the loan this late into the semester?
You can ask them; you won’t know if you don’t ask.
I guess you’re right. I was looking for people who’ve had similar situations and could give me adive since i’d have to wait till monday to call and I’m up stressing
The federal rule is you can get the loans up until the end of the term. If you have taken no loans for the 2017-19 school year, there shouldn’t be a problem. It may take time to process the loans. If you’ve never taken loans, you’ll need to do the loan counseling and sign the master promissory not.
Go to financial aid NOW and request the remainder of the loan. I believe you must have the process completed prior to the end of your college term…so go tomorrow morning and get this going.
It should not be a problem.
