Local CC summer class = only CR at UT or GPA points?

I'm considering taking a number of courses at my local community college next summer, and would like to know whether they will count towards my UT credit only as credit (that is, CR on the grade report/transcript) or also as UT GPA credit points (that is, 4.0 in class at CC = 4.0 on grade report/transcript).

Are CC classes viewed in much the same way as AP/IB credits in that they give you only credit without counting towards your UT gpa?

Cc courses don’t count toward your GPA. The grades show up on your transcript, but don’t count toward your UT GPA.

Do the grades show up on your UT transcript? I thought it would just say ‘CR’ once the credit is transferred to UT.

I am pretty sure that credits from any other college show up as CR.

So just to confirm, do CC courses show up on your transcript only as CR or do they, as OuterSpace mentions, not count towards your UT GPA but still show up on your transcript?

CC courses are NOT calculated into your UT GPA. However, CC course grades DO show on your UT transcript.

If you are pre-med (and probably pre-pharm and the like), medical schools do require all transcripts from colleges where you have taken college-level coursework, so your grades will ‘count’, but implicitly in that case. It will show up at ‘CR’ on your transcript, but you may need the transcript in the future depending on your future educational goals.

From my transcript back in 1984 (still on UT Direct), this it how CC courses appear:

Summer 1984 GOV 310L AMERICAN GOVERNMENT Transfer A
GOV 312L AMERICAN GOVERNMENT Transfer A
HIS 315K HISTORY OF U S Transfer A
HIS 315L HISTORY OF U S Transfer A

As stated these are not calculated into my UT GPA, but as you can see, they do appear on my transcript as transfer credit and with a grade–not a ‘CR’. Professional schools will see these grades when you are applying, so don’t blow them off.

^I did not know that. Thanks for that information!
