Local Expert: ‘Sleep Texting’ Is Growing Problem Among Teens

<p>'It’s just what you’d think it is, it’s texting while asleep,' says Elizabeth Dowdell, nursing professor at Villanova University, 'It’s exactly what is sounds like, or really more between that, you know, that area between being asleep and being awake.' " ...</p>

<p>Better than sleep texting while driving, I guess. Any of you parents noticing this with your children?</p>

<p>I think drunk texting is an even bigger problem.</p>

<p>My youngest was sleep texting when she was a sophomore in high school. She now turns off her phone and leaves it on her desk while she sleeps.</p>

<p>I had no idea this was happening. Oh boy, that could lead to some embarrassing texts.</p>

<p>I sleep text sometimes. Do it much more when I’m really stressed. My best friend is used to getting weird text from me in the early am.</p>

<p>It’s difficult to convince them they would be better off physically and mentally if they get enough, undisturbed sleep every night. Parents should try, though.</p>
