Dramaqueen,
I don't really think it necessary to go to a school in the same city in which you plan to work. If that were the case, practically every MT student would go to school in NYC. There are several VERY reputable schools across the nation that have students working on Broadway, in National Tours, etc. Look in the playbill the next time you attend a show and you will see how diverse the training is. Do look at the Big List on the link that alwaysamom posted. It might also be helpful for you, when you have the time, to go back and read all the old posts...there is a tremendous amount of valuable information on all the "top" schools, so to speak. You also say you are sure that you want a BFA...there are also good BM programs in MT as well (NYU-Steinhardt, OCU, Michigan, to name just a few). Good luck in your pursuits! It will be a memorable journey for the next year or so!
